Photo Reactions Around the World of Obama Being Elected President (Pictures)

These photos show the reaction to Barack Obama becoming President of the United States.

Update February 9, 2010: Although I am very disappointed with Obama, I decided to keep this post up. I think it shows how much his promises meant to people. And now those promises have been broken. So these picture serve as an event in history.

Thank you for putting together so many excellent photos! I waited in line for three hours to vote, and it was absolutely worth it. I found this blog from your recent comment at A Proud Liberal's blog.

Best,

Eventually, reality will hit with a thump. We voted for the best man, but we still have a long way to go. Still, for the moment, the whole world rejoices. We should fully enjoy that moment.

ps: The pix are terrific! They make me believe that slmaost anything is possible.

I love viewing the reactions from around the world. What comes to mind is the Police's song "One World":

I don’t want to bring a sour note
Remember this before you vote
We can all sink or we all float
’cos we’re all in the same big boat

One world is enough
For all of us

It may seem a million miles away
But it gets a little closer everyday

One world...

Thanks for posting these wonderful photos!

Simply stupendous.....but how on earth could an ad saying: "Did Obama Buy the Election?" appear on the same page??...it also appeared on the site showing headlines from around the world. Disgusting!

Interesting that so many people are happy to see a human being acting as if he is a demigod, and he will be the person to topple your nation down. I hope your naivety sharpens you to humility one day. I always knew our founding fathers are smarter than our generation will ever be. Never substituting morals and principles for power and control. I leave you with some prudent words of Thomas Jefferson.

"This is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle becomes a precedent for a second; that second for a third; and so on, till the bulk of society is reduced to mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering... And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression." Thomas Jefferson
